Our evening classes are held by candlelight and lamp light.
We undertake to offer a suitable class for every person, no matter what their physical situation as we feel that Yoga is a gift to be shared and the birthright of all people. It brings joy and a well-being and it is our honour to be involved in your Yoga Journey.
At Peace Yoga it is important to us that no person leaves our Yoga Hall feeling less than when they entered or less than another person. It is our priority to be instrumental in reminding all of their own self worth, thereby reducing stress by increasing self-esteem and self empowerment. These feelings in turn lead to Compassion for self and others. It’s all good!
You will be warmly welcomed at any of the Peace Yoga classes where you may feel confident that there is a session especially suited to you.
You never knew you could feel so good!!!

Namaste,
My Yoga Journey began at 14 years of age when I attended my first classes with my mother and then became more serious at the age of nineteen when we again did Yoga together delighting in the discovery of the gift and magic of this glorious Science.
I am eternally grateful for my beautiful teachings from many masters and for my teaching qualifications through The Meditation Institute Teacher Training Acadamy from where I achieved my first level in 1996. I subsequently studied 2nd level in 1997 and 3rd Level teachers degree in 1998 and have not stopped studying ever since.
I have been extremely fortunate to visit India on 5 occassions and to receive tuition from many wonderful teachers. In 2005 I was initiated into Kriya Yoga by Master Paramahansa Prajnananda and more recently bestowed the name “Amrita” by Raman Das.
My classes were originally in Cornubia and these still continue as The Peace Yoga Forest Branch with original students not only attending but some now also teaching. I moved to the Gold Coast in 1999, Peace Yoga finding its home originally in the Miami Surf Club now having grown into the studio at Burleigh Heads.
Our classes cater for all and our studio is a sanctuary of Peace and Wellness for all who enter…you will always feel welcome.
It is like coming home to your very own Peaceful Place.
You never knew you could feel so good…
All Love and Blessings,
Doreen. (Amrita).

(better known as ‘Vege’ in the building industry)
- Level 1 Yoga Teacher 2003
- Level 2 Yoga Teacher 2004
- Reiki Master
- Seichim Master
Born 20/12/48 in a big hurry to get on with life, popped out 4 weeks early weighing 4lb 4 ozs. I first started doing Yoga as a young hippy surfer in the early 1970s after a close friend returned from retreat in India.
The Yoga Discipline wore off with a wife, kids, a mortgage, drugs and alcohol.
At age 50, after 25 years bricklaying and alcoholic body abuse, I was a physical wreck, a major life change was imperative.
Back to Yoga! …where I was lucky enough to find a such a wonderful, caring teacher as Doreen, who turned my life around.
After a couple of years of hard work and during Retreat at Springbrook Mountain, I was gently reminded that I was capable of becoming whatever I dreamt I could be…and that nothing was impossible for me…
and would I like to be a Yoga Teacher?? Lots of study and. Lots of writing?? Yes Please..sure would!!
I now teach Wednesday and Thursday Nights and Saturday and Sunday Mornings at Peace Yoga.
Blessed with green thumbs, I love Gardening, the Ocean, Mountains, all Mother Natures Beauty.
We give the local frog population a boost each summer by caring for 1000s of tadpoles. Any spare time is spent whittling walking sticks from driftwood (Dandas).
In October 2005, I was initiated into Kriya Yoga by Master Paramahansa Prajnananda and we meditate on Sunday afternoons at our home with other Kriya Initiates.
I have a wonderful wife and 5 great kids, lots of beautiful students and a supportive Yoga Family.
Every moment of time is a joyous adventure.
All Blessings, Love and Peace,

Kimberley Hrastovec

Falling in love with the ancient health science after one class at Peace Yoga, Kimberley’s Yoga journey started three years ago and saw her develop an immediate passion for the Hatha style. She undertook the Peace Yoga teacher training course and has been instructing at the studio for the past year. Her inspiration to further her studies has seen her become a Reiki Master and attend spiritual and Yogic retreats and classes in Australia, New Zealand and Bali. Kimberley’s classes are designed to incorporate Yogic and spiritual philosophies into the flowing asanas, breath and meditation. As a full-time corporate Communications Consultant, she understands the importance of a work-life balance and includes stress management techniques into her rejuvenating lessons. An avid Yogini, Kimberley devotes the majority of her time outside of class to reading spiritual books, researching Auyveda and nutritional medicine, outdoor sports, traveling and heading down to the beach at sunrise to welcome the glorious mornings with sun salutations.

“We are all dreamers creating the next world, the next beautiful world for ourselves and for our children. What we do really affects the world. Most of us think we can't do anything, but it really isn't true.”

I guess I ended up here with similar reasons to you. To find a peace that resides inside of myself that I can nurture and love for the rest of my life. In this complicated world, I am positive that it will be the foundation of many building blocks I endeavour to create. Finding Peace Yoga at 17 years old, I found Yoga to be the beginning of what I'm sure will be a life long romance. A necessity, an adventure, a dicipline all in one.
In 2006 I found myself reading the Peace Yoga India Itinerary. Within a few minutes I had made a decision, at that stage probably not assuming the path ahead of me. All in all a trip to India is like one long hallucination. It is also the type of trip that makes you feel as if you are in a living dream. I recommend the Peace Yoga tour of India and that you let India take you in. You won't regret it. Soon after I returned from the hypnotising and captivating country, I enrolled to Study under Amrita (Doreen) the ancient health science of Yoga.
I was lucky enough to relate to this philosophy with ease and effortlessness. It made sense. I was blessed to have been raised in nature and a very loving, artistic, organic family. I have been encouraged to express and create all arts with my parents as amazing mentors. I teach Yoga for Peace Yoga School at Burleigh Heads. I have taught privately to friends and found alot of joy guiding meditation.
I found if I was dreaming alone to attain a peace it was just a dream, but if we could dream together we could create a reality.
We are all dreamers creating the next world, the next beautiful world for ourselves and for our children. What we do really affects the world. Most of us think we can't do anything, but it really isn't true. Healing yourself is connected with healing others. Remember, each one of us has the power to change the world. Just start thinking peace, and the message will spread quicker than you think.
Every drop in the ocean counts.
From the bottom of my heart I cannot love nor praise my teacher, Doreen, enough for guiding me on this path toward peace & spiritual awareness.

My life has benefited enormously through the practice of Yoga and I feel privileged to bring this long lineage of Hatha Yoga from the Mother Land of Yoga (India), and look forward to sharing it with you.
Raj Kumar

Namaste, my name is Raj. I have recently migrated to the Gold Coast from Dharamshala, North India, and am now teaching at Peace Yoga.
My first contact with Yoga was at the age of 12, at the school I was attending in the foothills of the Himalayas. Fortunately, Indian schools incorporated Yoga postures (Asanas) and breathing technique into their daily curriculum in the senior levels. I felt an innate spark of interest and a natural enjoyment in performing the postures that were instructed.
As I moved into my early twenties, my skin developed psoriasis and my sense of general well-being was far from harmonious. I remember reflecting on the feelings of well-being when I was younger practicing Yoga so I decided to attend a Yoga retreat. My first 18 day Yoga program started in an ashram in Rishikesh. This was the renewal of that spark planted so long ago at school.
Through the past 6 years I have had the fortune to attend courses and self-practice programs throughout India on a regular basis. I qualified as a Teacher Trainer in 2004 at the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre and have been instructing classes to international seekers coming to India since then.
In class time I invite a mindful practice, with slow deliberate postures and plenty of breathing to allow a natural flexibility within the body and mind, making it suitable for all levels.
My life has benefited enormously through the practice of Yoga and I feel privileged to bring this long lineage of Hatha Yoga from the Mother Land of Yoga (India), and look forward to sharing it with you.
